ABSTRACT
The 4-year field experiment results are showed in the paper. The experiment was conducted in the Experimental Station of Department of General Plant and Soil Cultivation in Mydlniki near Kraków, Poland. The results of qualitative characters of potato tubers var. Mila cultivated in the years 1997-2000 were used. The weather conditions in particular years, especially amount of precipition, were the differential factor in the potato tuber dry matter content. Comparing to the other years, in the year 1997, when there were the biggest rainfalls, the lower accumulation of dry matter was observed. Protein concentration, as varietal property, is strongly modified by meteorological conditions in the plants vegetation period. The experiment confirmed that large amount of precipitation in the vegetative season increases total protein content in the potato tubers. On the other hand abundant precipitation is the limiting factor of potato starch accumulation. The lowest content of starch in potato tubers was noted in the year 1997 (579 mm rainfall in vegetation period). During other years with lower precipitation, the potato starch amount was higher.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki oparte na 4-letnim polowym doświadczeniu zlokalizowanym w Stacji Doświadczalnej Katedry Ogólnej Uprawy Roli i Roślin, Akademii Rolniczej w Krakowie.
