ABSTRACT
In the third year of pot experiment the influence of fertilisation with waste activated sludge applied in the first year of the experiment and - for comparison - standard mineral fertilisers (N, P, K) on the content in the biomass of the following metals: Zn, Cu, Ni, Pb, Cd, Cr and Co as well as the uptake of metals by Miscanthus sacchariflorus was investigated. On the basis of yield and the content of determined metals the uptake was calculated. The successive effect of waste activated sludge, especially its higher doses, caused a significant influence on Zn, Cu, and Cd accumulation in biomass of tested grass. The highest uptake of total Zn, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Co by investigated plant was noted in treatments fertilised with medium (20%) dose of waste activated sludge, while that of Cd and Cr was recorded for the treatment fertilised with the highest dose (30%). The higher content of analysed elements in soil after Miscanthus biomass harvested in the third year of cultivation was in objects fertilised with waste activated sludge (with the exception of Cd) compared with the mineral fertilised (N,P,K) and control treatments.
