ABSTRACT
The objective of the present work was to assess the impact of atmospheric droughts on spring wheat yielding under the production conditions of central-eastern Poland. Three methods of drought determination were employed: on the basis of sequences of days without precipitation, Sielianinov’s hydrothermal coefficient, and atmospheric humidity index. The data necessary to determine atmospheric droughts were provided by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management in Warsaw. Spring wheat yields obtained from publications by the Main Statistical Office constituted the second set of data. Analysis was performed on average yield values and extreme yield values (minimum and maximum yield) The relationship between spring wheat yielding and atmospheric droughts was determined by the multiple linear regression model, the selection of variables being based on the stepwise procedure. Compared with the sequence of days without precipitation and the Sielininov hydrothermal coefficient, there was obtained the highest number of significant relations between spring wheat yield and atmospheric humidity index. More severe droughts in April encouraged spring wheat yielding, whereas the droughts occurring in May and June reduced the crop grain yield. Regression equations calculated explained the variation in spring wheat yielding in 16 to 49% for the agrometeorological station in Pułtusk and Białowieża, respectively, the variation being caused by the index of atmospheric humidity.

Wykazano najwięcej, w porównaniu z ciągiem dni bezopadowych i współczynnikami hydrotermicznymi Sielianinowa, istotnych zależności między plonem pszenicy jarej a wskaźnikiem uwilgotnienia atmosfery.
