ABSTRACT
A video-extensometry method used in the research of mechanical properties of seed covers has been presented in this report. Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio for the material tested, i.e. seed covers of dried broad beans (Vicia faba) were determined. Microscopic images of thin film gold nets (with thickness of 42 Ým and 162 Ým) deposited on the sample surface were transferred through a camera to the computer memory for the analysis of changes occurring in the course of sample tension testing. Fourier’s numerical analysis was applied to determine tensor elements of deformations. The method was characterized by a high measuring accuracy. Its additional advantage was that it was not sensitive to additional boundary effects which could occur in the vicinity of sample clips.

W pracy zaprezentowano video-tensometryczną metodę badania właściwości mechanicznych okryw nasiennych. Określono moduł Younga oraz współczynnik Poissona dla materiału testowego - okryw nasiennych suszonego bobu (Vicia faba). Mikroskopowy obraz osadzonych na powierzchni próbki cienkowarstwowych sieci złota (o periodzie 42 mm i 162 mm) przekazywany był poprzez kamerę do pamięci komputera, przeprowadzającego analizę zmian następujących podczas rozciągania próbki. Zastosowano numeryczną analizę Fouriera do określania elementów tensora odkształceń badanych materiałów. Metoda charakteryzuje się dużą dokładnością pomiaru. Dodatkową zaletą jest jej nieczułość na efekty brzegowe, jakie mogą występować w pobliżu zacisków próbki.
